One Brave Chick My story is about my own 9 year old daughter Payton. I think she is One Brave Chick.
Our family over the summer moved across country from Orlando, Florida to Cave Creek, Arizona. For a young girl it was very tough to leave her neighborhood with all her friends, her home and her school that she loved. It broke my heart that she had to leave the life she had known and wasn't sure of the new life ahead of her.
Payton had a tough summer after moving into her new home. The house was different, the neighborhood was different and no friends to play with. What kept her going was the excitement of going to a new school and meeting new friends.
On the first day of school Payton was really excited. She woke up early that day to make sure she had picked out just the right outfit. On the way to school you could see the excitement in her eyes but I knew that deep down she was nervous. Yet she never showed that emotion. Once we arrived at her new school I pulled around the car circle, gave her a kiss goodbye told her to have a great day & she jumped right out the truck waved good bye and walked right into school - no looking back! I was so proud of her. She showed such bravery no tears no signs of being nervous.
I later found out that evening before Payton went to bed that when she went to school that day she was both excited and nervous that day she said "I was screaming in my head when I walked into the classroom." You would have never known! As an adult I can only hope to show such bravery when I grow up.

Payton is one brave chick. its hard to move from a place of safety to the unknown and have to start all over again.. that is the great thing with kids that they can make friends so easily and seem to pick up where they left off
